Assistant Production Manager

Are you an experienced people manager with a passion for production and books?
For our modern book production facility, we are looking for an Assistant Production Manager to lead one of our production teams. In this role, you will be present on the production floor every day and be responsible for safety, quality, efficiency and achieving production targets.

You will work in a two-shift operation and, together with the Production Manager and your fellow Assistant Production Manager, act as the link between planning, engineering and production. You will help ensure that high-quality books are produced and delivered to our customers on time.

What you’ll do?

  • Leading a team of operators and production staff on a daily basis.
  • Coordinate production activities across the book manufacturing process, including printing, collating, folding, binding, trimming and packaging.
  • Monitor production schedules, quality standards and delivery deadlines.
  • Ensure a safe, organised and efficient working environment.
  • Support operators in resolving equipment malfunctions and production process disruptions.
  • Monitor, record and analyse production performance and deviations.
  • Identify opportunities to optimise production processes and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure a smooth handover between the early and late shifts.
  • Coach, support and develop team members.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for production, planning, engineering and quality.

  • MBO+ level of working and thinking, preferably in a technical or production-related field.
  • Experience in a production environment.
  • Experience leading a team, or the ambition to grow into a leadership role.
  • Technical aptitude and a hands-on mentality.
  • A strong focus on quality and safety.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Decisiveness and the ability to set priorities.
  • Willingness to work two shifts.
